We remind you not to litter

Untung Jawa Island Urban Village Head, Muslim explained that the waste originated from marine debris on the shoreline and household garbage from three neighborhoods.

"Between Eid al-Fitr and D+3, we collected a total of 83 cubic meters of waste," he noted, Wednesday (3/25).

He noted that household waste volume rose sharply compared to regular days, driven by the influx of tourists to Untung Jawa Island during the Eid break.

"With daily arrivals hitting 3,000 to 4,000 people, it naturally results in a higher volume of waste," he noted.

To tackle the waste surge, around 40 "Orange Squad" personnel were mobilized alongside 24 officers from the Seribu Islands Environmental Sub-agency.

"We also deployed two motorized garbage carts to expedite the collection," he added.

Muslim called on residents and visitors to care more for the environment by disposing of trash properly.

"We remind you not to litter so our surroundings stay clean, pleasant, and well-preserved," he noted.

Untung Jawa Island Environmental Sub-agency Coordinator, Reza added once the waste is collected, it is brought to a holding area to be sorted.

"The waste is then carried by the KM Laut Bersih ship for final disposal. Personnel are still on-site to guarantee hygiene in both coastal and residential zones," he remarked.
